What I Want To Do...
For my link practical production, this is my momentary ideas for the my magazine.
very related to graphics design and computers. Where the writing inside the magazine is going to include top stories about artists (Daft Punk reunion and re-tour (: ), interviews (real interview from my friend in Hong Kong who is a Dj for clubs), top songs of the week (what i think of songs that i heard from the week), artist bio and review, latest album and live show review (Summer Sonic festival in Japan that i will attend this summer watching Deadmau5, Orbital, Pendulum, Calvin harris, Steve Aoki) where i probably write one or two of them.

First the name of my magazine is going to be call FADER Magazine. The genre of my magazine is going to about dance and electronica music such as House, Techno, Minimal, Electro music. But more on about the actual good music for clubs and dance floors rather than genuine dance music for people to listen like Daft Punk or Justice. Where the music would be quite unknown to people if they are just normal listeners for chart musics on MTV, where this gives out the point of my magazine that the target audience is going to be for people who are really interested in electronic dance music and DJs. So the content have to balance with the design as well as the content where it has to be very professional and appealing for other DJs, producer, people who like electronic music. So no unethical contents such as comics inside the magazine for a joke, which is unnecessary. The text will be about the proper level language and text font like NME, but the designs would be similar to Mixmag, which is

I will design the front page of my magazine which is going to have a good graphic illustration of

an artist (LEFT: Kanye West made by Magomed Dovjenko) similar to this one where it's going to be very modern artistic, futuristic style and probably appeal more to younger audience. Where i will also design my own logo for the magazine's title which it's is going to be FADER Magazine, like the faders on a mixer. Inside the magazine, i would use fairly simple text fonts and probably a quick design of a header for each different article. Where it will be clear as well the different pages contain different topics by using different colours or large fonts to tell readers clearly what they are reading, depends how many pages will there be in total.
I will start to do the writing up this summer and things that i can do in Hong Kong and such like taking photographs and doing the interviews etc. Also I will be designing the logos and the illustration for the front page as well.
Anyway these are the website that I found that appeal to me most:
www.iammago.com (Graphic Designer website) for the designing.
www.bestphotoshoptutorials.net/2009/03/19/40-examples-of-beautiful-typography-in-advertising-design/ (Typography examples) for the headers and text.
www.trackitdown.net (Music and DJ kit website about genuine dance music with reviews of each track) to learn how to write for tracks in dance music in my magazine.

Examples Of Magazines
As starting the project, I choose the starting points of researching different magazines that i found interesting, as I'm a music lover of rock, alter-punk and electronic music. I think I should pick on the ones that matches with my type of music and style. NME, Mixmag and Kerrang! are the ones that appeal to me most. For the critical investigation I'm going to research the ways how music magazine changed and diversified during the years and how music magazine are getting less readers due to the internet. Whereas for my coursework I'm going to create a short magazine similar to the ones I like including articles such as interviews, live review, top charts sort of stuffs.

NME (New Musical Express) is the UK's biggest magazine seller around the 60's and till now, it's a British music magazine that was first publish in March 1952. Between the beginning to end had so much difference such as the first magazine was in a tabloid format on newsprint to glossy front page and internet for readers to interact with the

Kerrang! is a rock focused magazine in UK, started at 1981 where the
magazine supports the new wave of heavy metal bands in UK and also hard rock bands like AC/DC in US and other countries. It had diversified into Radio, TV, Annual Awards, internet for users ever since it created. But overtime, they had got pretty much bad publications as people started to refer Kerrang! as a emo magazine.
